A Request for Proposals (RFP) is a document that is posted by a funding agency in order to receive bids from potential providers of a product or service. Most of the Older Americans Act (OAA) services in our 7-county region are provided by local community based organizations (CBOs) with whom Area 4 establishes service contracts through an RFP process. Generally, these contracts cover a period of four years and are renewed annually.

The next 3-year contract cycle begins July 1, 2014 and ends on June 30, 2017.

On December 14th, 2012 the A4AA Governing Board voted to postpone the RFP previously set to begin on July 1, 2013.

This decision was made because of the degree of uncertainty about how much funding Area 4 Agency on Aging will actually receive for FY 2013-14 and because of the strong likelihood of negative impacts on seniors and family caregivers if awards must be adjusted multiple times within a twelve month period.

Service providers in good standing will be eligible to have their existing contracts renewed for FY 2013-14 in accordance with A4AA’s normal annual renewal process.
